Since its origin in the Wuhan province in China in December 2019, the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov-2) has impacted 213 countries and as of August 8, 2020, there have been 19,187,943 cases and 716,075 deaths due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) worldwide. In the United States alone, there have been more than 160,000 deaths due to COVID-19. The pandemic has impacted people of all age groups, socioeconomic status, and industrial sectors, although the healthcare workers, who are on the frontlines, have been particularly impacted hard.

The novel coronavirus was first discovered and reported in December 2019. Later termed the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-COv-2) virus, rapid spread was detected in China. Overtime, SARS-COv-2 spread to various other countries requiring swift intervention on a global scale. As infection spread, several therapeutics have been investigated for Coronavirus Disease- 2019 (COVID-19), including remdesivir, lopinavir/ritonavir, hydroxychloroquine, dexamethasone, etc. Furthermore, rapid investigation and construction of several potential vaccines have begun, some of which are in late-stage testing. We present a concise timeline representing the evolution of COVID-19, therapeutic trials, and vaccine development. Ultimately, evident by the overall poor efficacy of several medications investigated so far, vaccination success remains the most likely effective step to combat COVID-19.

Human infection with Sars CoV-2 named COVID-19 by WHO causes micro and macro vascular thrombosis which is one of the major complications along with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Although the mechanisms involved are poorly understood but appear to consist of a cascade of inflammation with involvement of many inflammatory cytokines, coagulation factors and platelets and results in some kind of immune-thrombosis. The thrombotic and thrombo-embolic events have caused major morbidities and mortalities and have been topic of extensive research in present pandemic. Timely recognition of these events and intervention with anticoagulation has been the key to successful management of critically ill COVID-19 patients.

Coronary sinus defect is a spectrum of cardiac anomalies in which part or all of the common wall between the coronary sinus and left atrium is absent.By morphology, it may present completely unroofed coronary sinus or completely unroofed coronary sinus without persistent left superior vena cava also it may present like partially unroofed midportion or terminal portion of the coronary sinus. Depending upon the morphology cyanosis is mild to severe. We are reporting a case of partial coronary sinus defect in an adult female patient with coronary artery disease.
